Job Description:

RCC seeks a responsible person to perform janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, grounds-keeping and other maintenance tasks as assigned with in Roxbury community college campus.

Essential Duties:

• Cleans classrooms, meeting rooms, bathrooms, corridors, walls, etc. by washing, waxing, buffing, sweeping, polishing, dusting, and vacuum cleaning. Responsible for emptying and cleaning the waste barrels, garbage cans, and other waste receptacles.
• Performs manual labor such as loading/unloading freight materials or equipment and delivering goods to personnel.
• Locks and unlocks the premises, reports hazardous and unusual situations to the appropriate authorities.
• Makes general repairs of a simple nature.
• Operates electric trimmers, buffers, or other similar mechanical or power equipment.
• Performs routine manual tasks involved in maintenance, repair or beautification process of grounds, i.e. grass cutting, clearing drains, loading and unloading of vehicles, moving and setting up furniture/equipment, snow removal and sand / ice-melt spreading, cleaning the walkways, roads, parking lots, painting fences, posts and building exterior.
• Performs routine tasks to assist skilled trade technicians.
• Care for plants, trees, flowers.
• Sweep sidewalks, remove leaves and debris/rubbish.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Legal authorization to work in the USA.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to understand and apply rules & regulations, policies & procedures, specifications & standards, and guidelines governing the assigned tasks.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with coworkers, faculty and staff, students, and visitors.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
• Ability to climb and work on ladders and scaffolding.
• Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.

Shift Schedules (please choose a shift): Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00am-3:30pm; Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm; 3:00pm-11:30pm

Compensation: Grade 10 Step 1 per the AFSCME CBA
