Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Essential Functions

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.

• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool.

• Ensures program fidelity per level description and teaching guidelines. • Performs equipment checks & inventory to ensure proper working condition and available as needed.

• Delivers quality teaching of private and group swim lessons in group and individualized settings in accordance with YMCA instruction standards.

• Identifies and celebrates the success of members and program participants. • Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.

• All other duties assigned by management. Equipment and Software • Various pool area equipment and chemicals.

• ADP for personal and operational timecard management.

• Microsoft Office 365 – Outlook, OneDrive, Excel Teams etc. Qualifications

• Must demonstrate swim lesson instruction skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

• Current Lifeguard certification required.

• Ability to communicate and get along with people of diverse backgrounds is required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. • Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor settings where the employee may be exposed to the elements.
