The Attleboro Arts Museum's Facilities Assistant is a full-time, in-person position that primarily supports the successful operations of all building equipment and maintenance of museum spaces – and occasionally works with staff members to mount a rotation of art exhibitions. The Facilities Assistant reports to the Executive Director.
Qualifications
The right candidate,
- Will work with qualified vendors to make building repairs and address on-going maintenance both inside and on the Museum’s exterior grounds
- Considers themselves an accomplished handyperson that, after successfully completing one job, can quickly pivot to the next
- Serves as the point person for landscapers, plumbers, inspectors, tech support, volunteer helpers, shipping representatives, equipment vendors, suppliers
- Oversees building safety, security, structural compliance; covers occasional security alarm calls
- Ensures that all art studios are always ready for teachers, students and special programs
- Carefully handles all forms of art and frequently packs and manages the transportation/shipping of art
- Provides occasional support with hanging gallery exhibitions and restoring gallery space
- Assists with preparation of hospitality for opening receptions and events
- Occasionally covers the reception desk, greeting guests and offering exhibition basics
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; user of Mac platforms; experience with Microsoft and Google softwares; has a general comfort level with all forms of technology and a willingness to adapt new technology as required
- Comfortable writing professional Outlook emails and making business telephone calls
- A willingness and ability to lift up to 70lbs on a frequent basis
- Holds a valid driver’s license; has access to a car at all times; and the flexibility to run local errands to support Museum administration
- Living within 15-20 miles of Attleboro, MA is highly preferred
Personal Characteristics:
- The Facilities Assistant should enjoy a fast-paced workplace and gain inspiration from a museum’s creative environment. They must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, seeing all projects through to completion while frequently communicating status
- They should possess a can-do, roll-up your sleeves attitude; be flexible, and maintain professional customer service friendly manner
Standard Hours:
- Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 5:30pm (In-person position)
- Position includes occasional evening hours to cover Museum programs, special events and the completion of assorted projects (mailings, errands, other)
