Candidates must be able to work in the field both independently, in support of other LEC or on a team for extended periods of time under physically challenging conditions and possess a working knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local regulations and permitting; demonstrate excellent technical writing and communications skills; command strong organizational and time management skills; and be able to successfully transition between diverse tasks with ease and work independently. Fostering and maintaining excellent working relationships with other LEC staff, our clients, regulatory staff, and the public also are necessary requirements for a position at LEC. Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.


LEC is currently seeking to expand our staff with qualified candidates for an Administrative/Business Development Position and a Wetland Scientist position in our Worcester Office and Environmental Scientist/Construction & Erosion Control Monitor positions in our Plymouth or Worcester Offices.

Environmental Scientist/Construction & Erosion Control Monitor

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural science or equivalent, and have a minimum of 3 to 5+ years direct experience in New England and preferably in Massachusetts performing construction monitoring or similar environmental monitoring services with a focus on at least one of the following: SWPPP Inspections, construction period erosion and sediment control monitoring, wetland replication/restoration construction and monitoring. The candidate must be familiar with soil erosion control and BMP installation and maintenance.

Candidate must have the ability to manage and interact professionally and proactively with contractors, subcontractors, engineering professionals, and conservation staff performing construction or related engineering services, and with DEP Analysts, Conservation Agents or Town Planners representing state and local permit issuing agencies. The position requires the individual to be detail-oriented, resourceful, possess strong time-management skills, demonstrate excellent technical writing, and have an ability to work independently in the field. The candidate must have a working knowledge of land development practices, standard construction and engineering practices, and relevant environmental laws and regulations in Massachusetts and New England, including but not limited to the MAWPA, CWA, USACE 401/404/10, MEPA, and ESA.

Completion of EPA's construction training course is required, and CPESC certification or the ability to obtain is preferred. HAZWOPER certification or willingness to become certified is required. Additional job responsibilities may include wetland delineation, wetland restoration/replication planning and design, project management and team meeting participation, report preparation, and filing federal, state, and local environmental permits, and public presentations. Training will be provided for these responsibilities as necessary.
