Description of the Position Quinsigamond Community College invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Electronics Engineering Technology. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population. Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of Quinsigamond Community College (QCC). The ideal candidate will be interested in sustaining and growing QCC's Electronics Engineering Technology program and will be comfortable offering hands-on laboratory courses using current advanced automation equipment, software, and tools. The highest priority topics of relevance for expertise in teaching are practical and theoretical principles of DC & AC circuits, use of multimeters and oscilloscopes, wiring and programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), troubleshooting and maintenance of automated manufacturing systems, and industrial robots. The successful candidate will also engage in excellent teaching, advising, and mentoring to support students' growth in technical skills. More generally, the successful applicant will demonstrate a solid understanding of a community college's role in workforce development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to collaboration and professional development, ensuring our current technologies and future asset investments are integrated into curriculum and being used to increase student learning. Courses are primarily held in the classroom/labs at QCC's Worcester Campus but as appropriate may be offered at other locations. The candidate will have the opportunity to shape the curriculum, assist the Electronics Engineering Technology Department in the selection and use of appropriate educational materials and technology in the classroom, and engage in community-based outreach activities as applied to the area of Electronics and Automation. The candidate may also serve as the program coordinator. Supervision Received:
Reports to the Dean of the School of Computing and Applied Technology. Supervision Exercised: The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over any personnel assigned to him/her. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach a range of Electronics Engineering Technology and related courses, which may include DC & AC Circuits, Electronics, PLCs, Microcontrollers, Industrial Robotics, and Troubleshooting & Maintenance of Mechatronic Systems.
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction, incorporating hands-on, industry-relevant experiences that reflect current technologies and standards.
- Develop and/or revise instructional materials and laboratory activities with other faculty members to ensure alignment with program outcomes and industry needs.
- Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and technical experience, including nontraditional learners and underrepresented populations.
- Develop and apply assessment strategies that measure student learning outcomes and promote continuous improvement in technical and professional competencies.

- Actively participate in program review, accreditation, and curriculum development, including integration of new technologies, equipment, and software.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to students pursuing engineering technology pathways.
- Participate in college service activities in accordance with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
- With the aid of a Lab Assistant, maintain all Electronics Engineering Technology lab equipment and lab spaces.
- Support and mentor adjunct faculty as needed.
- Engage with industry partners and regional employers to align curriculum with workforce needs and support internship, apprenticeship, and job placement opportunities.
- Participate in recruitment and retention activities to grow the Electronics Engineering Technology program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline plus 3-5 years progressive industry experience in related field.
- Knowledge of practical applications of DC & AC circuits and electronics.
- Experience in teaching or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline, or ability to complete Master's Degree within 5 years of date of hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge base in two or more of the following areas: Wiring and Programming Programmable Logic Controllers, Automated Manufacturing Systems, Soldering Techniques, Robotics.
- Five or more years of progressive industry experience in advanced manufacturing in Massachusetts or New England.
- Two years of successful college/technical teaching, preferably in a community college or vocational/technical high school setting.
- Demonstrated experience with and ability to apply industry-recognized skill standards, including production processes, quality, safety, and employability skills, in the classroom.
- Experience promoting innovation, creativity and "making" through efforts such as Maker Faire, Fab Labs, Hackerspace or related open community-lab initiatives.
- Documented examples of curriculum / course development and assessment.
- Demonstrated track record in innovative, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team teaching across disciplines, on-line learning and service learning.
- Demonstrated experience in integration of computer technology into instruction.
- Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
- Understanding of and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.
- Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
- Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
