Sr. Principal Engineer

Hybrid 3 days onsite in Boston, MA

Our client seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software programs, databases, and processes supporting core business environments across research, investments, front office, and trading. The role involves direct interaction with end users, collaboration with small engineering teams, and application support with a focus on integrations, best practices, and coding within an OMS-centric trading environment.

This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $100.00 to $110.00/hr. w2

• Work on an engineering team to design and develop applications that support business units.
• Assume responsibility for maintenance of existing core business applications.
• Collaborate within IT and with business stakeholders across the organization.

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years in financial management or financial services.
• Solid knowledge of modern software design principles, concepts, and practices.
• Significant experience with Python and related technologies.
• Significant experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of C# and the Microsoft stack is a plus.
• Experience leading a technical team is a plus.
• Experience with cloud-based development. AWS preferred. Experience with a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Building and deploying applications in a cloud environment. Infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Containers and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes. Monitoring, logging, and basic cloud security practices.
• Experience with OMS platforms such as Charles River is preferred.

B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent.
