Shop Foreman

Title: Sign Shop Foreman Classification: Non-Exempt Position Summary The Shop Foreman oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the shop, ensuring all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and project requirements. This role provides direction to shop support personnel, manages inventory, and ensures overall operational readiness for construction projects. The Shop Foreman plays a vital leadership role in maintaining an organized, safe, and productive work environment. This position is physically active and requires regular lifting, bending, standing, and operating machinery in both indoor and outdoor environments. The role involves exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and dust. Strict compliance with company safety standards and consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential. Essential Functions Leadership and Supervision Supervises shop, providing daily direction, support, and performance feedback. Ensures compliance with company safety standards and operational procedures. Conducts or coordinates daily safety meetings and job briefings as needed. Promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among the shop team. Inventory and Material Management Manages inventory control systems, conducts regular cycle counts, and maintains accurate inventory records. Requests and tracks inventory needs through the Production Manager, ensuring optimal stock levels. Assists with asset management and equipment tracking. Other Responsibilities Maintains a clean, organized shop environment. Identifies and corrects unsafe practices or conditions, exercising Stop Work Authority when necessary. Provides monthly updates on equipment or materials that are no longer safe or suitable for use. Assists with sign shop duties or other operational needs as required. Performs other related duties as assigned to support overall branch operations. Education, Experience, and Skills Required High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse, yard, or shop environment; prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Proficient in basic carpentry and use of hand and power tools. Skilled in the operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds safely and repeatedly. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver's license required. Certified forklift operator preferred (must obtain certification if not current). Must meet company driving standards, including passing a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
