Schedule:

• Shift: Day Shift
• Timing: 4:30 AM – 12:30 PM / 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM / 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
• Days: Monday – Friday

Pay Rate:

• $30 - $32 per hour

Job Overview

This role supports the efficient operation of the Pathology Department by performing a combination of technical and administrative duties, including specimen processing, accessioning, data entry, and clerical support to ensure accurate and timely patient results.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform specimen receiving, accessioning, and data entry in laboratory systems
• Provide clerical and administrative support, including answering calls, typing reports, and managing inquiries
• Retrieve specimens from operating room and laboratory areas, ensuring accurate patient identification and labeling
• Process and verify pathology and cytology specimens for accuracy and special handling requirements
• Track specimens sent to reference labs or external facilities
• Prepare and organize slides and materials for tumor boards, quality assurance reviews, and medical inquiries
• Package and prepare specimens for shipment
• Maintain logs and documentation for reference lab cases
• File, scan, and update patient and specimen records
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab work areas, equipment, and storage
• Manage slide and block filing systems and handle return mail
• Ensure availability of supplies, reagents, and laboratory materials
• Follow quality control procedures and safety protocols
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of lab-related, phlebotomy, or clinical support experience
  
  or Associate’s degree in a health science field
• Proficiency with computer systems and laboratory information systems
• Strong data entry, multitasking, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Typing speed of at least 30 WPM
• Experience with EPIC preferred
• Ability to handle specimens accurately and efficiently
