Science Teacher
You will teach a regular schedule of science classes each week to students in grades 3-8 as part of both our elementary and middle schools. In addition you will
- Collaborate as part of a team of very strong science teachers, dedicated to vertical integration of curriculum across grades
- The focus of the science department is on interactive, experiential learning and depth of understanding, rather than breadth of coverage
- You get to support students’ classroom experiences with field trips! We are committed to using the city of Boston as an educational resource, so we encourage you to complement the curriculum with "real world experiences" where appropriate
- May serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students
The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm for developing young learner’s academic and critical thinking skills while nurturing their social, emotional, and spiritual growth. In addition, you should have:
- Interest in and experience with curriculum development, and a commitment to innovative pedagogy
- Educational background in a range of sciences; some background or experience in integrated STEM curriculum is preferred
- Experience with use of a Maker Space ideal but not essential.
- Experience with the use of computers, interactive whiteboard technology and digital probe-ware
- 3+ years of elementary or middle school science teaching experience
- Master’s degree is strongly preferred
- Salary is $60,000-$70,000 commensurate with years of experience and highest degree
