Immigration Attorney

Saheli, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering South Asian and Arab women and their families to lead safe, healthy, and empowered lives. Saheli provides culturally responsive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of abuse, including legal advocacy, immigration support, economic empowerment, and access to public benefits. Position Overview :
Saheli seeks a compassionate and experienced Immigration Attorney to provide legal representation and advocacy to immigrant survivors of domestic violence,sexual assault, and other forms of trauma. The attorney will play a critical role in ensuring survivors have access to immigration relief that enhances their safety, stability, and independence.This role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-centered legal advocacy and the ability to work collaboratively with advocates, case managers, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide legal consultations, advice, and representation to clients on immigration matters, including but not limited to:
- U visas
- VAWA petitions
- SIJS Visa
- Adjustment of status
- Work authorization
- Naturalization and related relief
- Prepare, file, and track immigration petitions and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records.
- Ensure compliance with funder, grant, and reporting requirements related to immigration services.
- Assist with data collection and reporting as needed for program evaluation and grants.
Collaboration & Advocacy :
- Work closely with Saheli dv advocates and case managers to ensure holistic, survivor-centered support.
- Participate in case consultations and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Collaborate with community partners, legal service providers, and referral networks.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for community outreach events.
Community Outreach & Education
- Conduct immigration legal clinics, workshops, and “Know Your Rights” presentations for community members.
- Provide training and guidance to Saheli staff on immigration-related issues impacting survivors.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Massachusetts (or eligible for admission).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in immigration law, preferably working with survivors of domestic violence or vulnerable populations.
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian immigration relief options.
- Commitment to social justice, equity, and survivor-centered advocacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for community outreach events.
Preferred
- Experience working in a nonprofit or legal services organization.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
- Multilingual skills (South Asian, Middle Eastern, or other relevant languages) are a plus.
- Experience working with diverse immigrant communities.
