Overview

As part of the Compensation team the Compensation Consultant plans, manages, and performs analysis related to compensation projects. Works directly with DFCI leaders and People Strategy Partners to evaluate needs, create effective project plans and timelines, recommend, and implement solutions. Assists in the designs and development of new compensation structures and programs for the institute and maintains and updates existing programs.

The work location of this position is remote with occasional time on-campus in Boston, MA. T he selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with DFCI leaders and HR business partners, independently or with other Compensation team members to evaluate needs, recommend and implement solutions for compensation and performance programs, job structure projects, and other pay and performance related projects.
  • Assists in the designs and development of new compensation structures and programs for the institute and maintains and updates existing programs.
  • Develops effective project plans, identifying key deliverables and implementing solutions based on pre-determined timelines. Assures key deliverables and deadlines are met.
  • Prepares meeting materials and presentations. Assures equipment, meeting agendas, meeting rooms or teleconference ability is available and enabled prior to meetings. Presents or co-presents material.
  • Works with other HR team members to finalize and implement new pay programs and assure data, systems, and communications aspects are completed successfully. Follows up on effectiveness of compensation projects with HR Business Partners.
  • Perform job and market analysis, as well as collects market intelligence to build effective pay models.
  • Develops effective communication documents and training tools.
  • Assists with compensation training for HR staff members and facilitates train-the-trainer programs.
  • Develops effective job documentation and job family structures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field. Extensive experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of compensation experience, with a minimum of one (1) year on the operations side in Hospital/Healthcare setting.
  • Experience planning and managing compensation projects.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred.
  • Experience developing new pay and pay-for-performance/bonus programs preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles.
  • Ability to evaluate business needs, interpret role requirements, position scope and responsibilities and develop accurate job documentation and career ladders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and exceptional research, analytical, evaluation, and customer service skill
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and administer complex project work.
  • Knowledge of Compensation related regulations (e.g., FLSA, Massachusetts Pay Equity Act)
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and database skills including the development of complex spreadsheets and presentations, and experience preparing, documenting, and presenting narrative reports and statistical analyses.
