Senior Staff Accountant
A contractor is seeking to hire a Senior Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate has their BS in Accounting/Finance, is proficient in Excel, and is very strong in AP/AR, reconciliations, GL maintenance, etc. Prior experience using Sage is highly preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation of customer accounts.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submission in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights that support business operations and growth.
- Maintain accurate records of debits and credits, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.
- Utilize QuickBooks for accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance and reporting.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles, including debits/credits and accounts receivable management.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
