Senior Staff Accountant

A contractor is seeking to hire a Senior Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate has their BS in Accounting/Finance, is proficient in Excel, and is very strong in AP/AR, reconciliations, GL maintenance, etc. Prior experience using Sage is highly preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.


• Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation of customer accounts.


• Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.


• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely submission in accordance with federal and state regulations.


• Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights that support business operations and growth.


• Maintain accurate records of debits and credits, ensuring all transactions are properly documented.


• Utilize QuickBooks for accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance and reporting.


• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role within the financial services industry.


• Strong understanding of financial concepts and principles, including debits/credits and accounts receivable management.


• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is highly desirable.


• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.


• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.


• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
