Provide safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services for residents of a senior living community using a fleet bus; perform pre-trip inspections, assist passengers (including those with mobility needs), record trip data, and follow scheduling and reporting procedures. Must hold a valid Massachusetts Class 2 CDL, pass background and DOT physical checks, attend required in-services, and demonstrate strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Duties include assisting passengers on/off the bus, handling packages and wheelchairs, maintaining mileage and fuel records, and adhering to safety and attendance policies.
Job Description:
Position Summary:This position is responsible for providing safe, reliable, courteous , and efficient transpo r tation services to our Residents using our fleet bus. Must possess a va lid driver's license and CDL license. Strong communication ski ll s to effectively interface with Residents, staff, vendors, and genera l public. Must be able to pass a background check. Candidate should have a compassion for and desire to work with an older adult population.

of a personal nature
• Uses good judgment when dealing with emergent situat io ns, both on the road , in handling a fleet vehicle in all weather conditions, as well as dealing w i th resident demands and keeping the residents ' safety as a top priority
• Maintains a genuine interest in providing top geriatric care, within the scope of their duties and a
continued belief in the culture of Orchard Cove
Position Responsibilities :
• A monthly schedule of bus trips will be distributed at the end of each month
• Al l trips must be covered. In the event you cannot cover a shift please ca ll the Resident Experience L ead/Transportation Coordinator. In the case of no coverage please notify Member Se rvices ASAP so that arrangements can be made for an alternate means of bus transportation
• Arrive 30 minutes before schedu l ed trip to warm up or cool off the bus and conduct pre - trip inspection. In the w inter plan t o arrive earl ier if there has been a snowstorm in order to clean off t he bus
• Greet and help people both on and off the bus. For shopping trips, please assist m e mbers with packages
• Record on daily sheet starting and ending mileage, starting and ending times and your initials
• Please use phone only when necessary and never while driving. No personal ca ll s a ll owed on bus phone
• Bus keys are held at concierge (front) desk. Keys are · to be picked up and returned to the desk after each shift. Store gas receipts in monthly envelope provided
• Turn in gas envelope to Transportation Coordinator at end of each month. Turn in daily schedule to
Transportation Coordinator at the end of each s hift
• Due to the nature of scheduling, you must give a least a 2 week notice for vacation time
Qualifications :• Education: High School or equivalent
• Must have a current Massachusetts driver's license Class 2 CDL and in good standing
• Previous Experience: 1-2 years of related customer service experience
• In addition, employee must successfully pass the CORI check as requested by Orchard Cove. Must be able to pass DOT physical exam. Must attend mandatory in-services provided by Orchard Cove and periodic in-services in order to keep your license current
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
• Ability to occasionally move items up to 30 pounds
• Ability to push an occupied wheelchair and lift an empty wheelchair into trunk of car
• Exposure to various weather conditions
