Linux Lab String Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Hardware Integration and String Test Engineer to lead and support radar system testing in a dynamic lab environment. This role is critical to ensuring that Systems and Software Engineering teams have the necessary hardware, networking, and infrastructure to execute development and testing initiatives effectively.

Responsiblities:

• Set up and maintain radar string environments, including servers, network switches, cabling (Cat5, RF), and power systems.

• Perform hardware configuration, racking and stacking, and OS installation (Windows/Linux).

• Manage lab operations including inventory tracking, equipment shipments, and coordination with IT and engineering teams.

• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing and ensure systems are tactically representative of real radar configurations.

• Guide and mentor team members on string setup using established procedures and documentation.

• Interface with internal stakeholders and external visitors, including clients and test site personnel.

• Report regularly to management on lab status, equipment readiness, and operational issues.

$45/hr to $65/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

• 3+ years in a fast-paced lab environment supporting development and testing.

• Strong background in electrical engineering and hands-on experience with hardware integration.

• Proficiency in server setup, networking (including switches and cabling), and operating systems (Windows/Linux).

• Experience with hardware configuration, inventory logistics, and customer interaction.

• Familiarity with radar systems, power-up sequences, and system-level validation.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to obtain a secret clearance - Experience in government or defense contracting environments.

• Practical networking experience and certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+).

• Exposure to radar string testing and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
