SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for providing assistance in a substantially separate classroom in the SEA 2- Social Emotional Academic Program at Farley Elemenentary based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The ABA Therapist supports the classroom teacher or other certified personnel in delivering high-quality instruction, fostering student growth, and promoting a safe and structured learning environment. Responsibilities include assisting with educational activities, behavioral support, classroom organization, and school-community relations. Professionalism, sound judgment, and adherence to Hudson Public Schools’ policies are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. - Assists the classroom teacher by reviewing, correcting, and reinforcing lessons with individual students and small groups; reading aloud; supporting math concepts; and reinforcing letter recognition and other curriculum activities.
- Helps prepare and inventory instructional materials and assists with the setup, operation, and maintenance of learning aids and equipment.
- Assists with wash-up and toiletting routines and supervises breakfast and/or lunch periods.
- Provides clerical support, including recording attendance and cataloging instructional materials.
- Supports positive school-community relations through open communication with school personnel and students.
- Contributes to a warm, supportive classroom environment that fosters student growth and development.
- Supports and teaches students with moderate to severe special needs, including behavioral and academic challenges and deficits in daily living skills.
- Reads and implements each student's Behavior Support Plan in collaboration with the teacher; collects daily behavior data for progress reports and IEP development.
- Implements ABA strategies, including but not limited to, task analysis, adaptive skills (e.g., toileting, feeding, transitions), natural environment teaching, discrete trials, and social skills training; uses appropriate prompt hierarchies.
- Willingness to assist and maintains certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and assists with de-escalation, protective holds, and student escorts as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate degree, or 48 undergraduate college credits
- Experience with behavior disorders, autism and/or ABA preferred
- Ability to follow behavior plans, take data and work collaboratively
- RBT - Registered Behavior Technician Certification Required
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
WORK YEAR:
- $500 sign on bonus (after 40 days)
- $1,000 annual stipend for holding RBT Certification
- 10 months. 183 work days, 3 personal days, 12 sick days prorated pursuant to date of hire
- This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay
- Benefit Eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.
