Job Details

• Position: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) / Psychiatric Nurse / Mental Health RN
• Location: Holyoke, MA 01040 (Pioneer Valley, Massachusetts)
• Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health (adult, pediatric ages 5–17, geriatric units) — inpatient psychiatric nursing
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (February 23, 2026 – May 25, 2026)
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts) — night shift psychiatric RN
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes, across behavioral health units as needed
• Patient Ratios: Approx. 1:8 (lower ratios for pediatric and geriatric units)
• Number of Beds: 104 across five units
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner (Cerner EMR experience a plus)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain) — MA nursing license preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Graduation from an accredited Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
• Experience working with adult, pediatric, and geriatric behavioral health populations
• Comfortable floating between units as needed and working within interdisciplinary teams
• Experience with Cerner EMR and electronic charting is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation — psychiatric nursing duties
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
• Monitor, document, and communicate changes in patient clinical condition to physicians and nursing leadership
• Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education to support continuity of care and successful transitions
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment; apply de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care as needed
• Provide care for patients with diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, and anxiety
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Cerner EMR
• Float between behavioral health units to meet patient care needs and support staffing flexibility
