Volunteer singers needed for Eudaimonia Voices, a spirited and challenging project choir!
Eudaimonia, A Purposeful Period Band (Vivian Montgomery, director) seeks seasoned singers who are experienced chamber choir members with strong reading skills, familiarity with historical vocal practices, and comfort in a wide range of musical styles to participate in our project choir, Eudaimonia Voices, for a January 25 evening concert at First Parish Cambridge.
The program is entitled Thin Places and Narrow Passages: Musical Pathways to the Unbound Spirit, an entirely vocal program focused on release into both the mystical realm and physical safety. With Eudaimonia’s characteristic diversity of repertoire from the 16th century through the current day, this program centers around Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia, encompasses transcendent works by Byrd, Blow, and Billings, and dips into contemporary and Appalachian song, all while highlighting the work of Lesley University’s program for Dance and Movement Therapy. We also continue our connection with social justice work at First Parish in Cambridge where Eudaimonia is Ensemble-in-Residence. Check out our Youtube presence and our website ( to find out more of what we’ve been doing these past 10 years!
PLEASE NOTE: While singers join Eudaimonia Voices as volunteers, there’s the potential for professionally-active singers to become paid members of our core roster for future projects. For the January 25 concert, participants are required to attend at least 9 rehearsals out of a total of 14 scheduled from December 14 through January 24, including one in December and the dress rehearsal on Saturday January 24. Rehearsals take place at First Parish in Cambridge and the Longy School of Music, both close to Harvard Square.
Please send a message of interest by November 24 to Dr. Vivian Montgomery at [email protected] and, if the director is unfamiliar with your work, please provide a recording link, your voice type, and a short summary of key musical and choral experience. And don’t hesitate to be in contact with questions.
