Sealer of Weights and Measurers The Town of Longmeadow, MA is seeking
qualified applicants for the on-call position of Sealer of Weights and Measures. Position is responsible for enforcing laws, ordinances, and regulations relating to the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices and the weight and measure and count of commodities offered for public sale, and in the sealing or condemning of devices tested. Work is performed in accordance with state laws and regulations and town bylaws and is subject to review through reports, and periodic checks by representatives of the State Division of Standards. Successful candidate must have: Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws relevant to job duties and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Handbook and all other laws, regulations and best practices related to essential functions. Thorough knowledge of state and town laws and regulations governing weights and measures. Ability to multi-task and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials, merchants, and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to work independently. Ability to enforce laws, ordinances, and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially. Ability to learn new software as needed. Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and customer service skills. Requires mathematical skill and mechanical aptitude in order to understand the operation of weighing and measuring devices and to measure accurately. Proficient in use of computer programs including Microsoft Office and Google Suites, email, and internet. High School diploma or equivalent, and 3 to 5 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Requires certification as an inspector/sealer of weights and measures. Valid Driver\'s license required and must be maintained as a condition of employment. Salary paid via quarterly stipend of \$1,330.76 (equivalent to \$5,323.04 annually); no benefits.
