About Burke-Memorial Elementary School Burke-Memorial Elementary School is an elementary school (grades 2-4) of about five-hundred and twenty students. The Burke-Memorial School offers a comprehensive curriculum and its goal is to encourage students to be lifelong learners, skillful communicators, creative thinkers, and responsible citizens. Burke-Memorial Elementary School is dedicated to the belief that students, parents, and educators are all involved in our childrens education in a responsible, nurturing, and supportive way. The Principal of Burke-Memorial Elementary School shall be the educational administrator and manager of his/her school and shall supervise the operation and management of his/her school and school property, subject to the supervision and direction of the Superintendent. In accordance with district personnel policies, applicable statutes and budgetary parameters, and subject to the approval of the Superintendent, the Burke-Memorial Elementary Principal shall be responsible for the employment decisions regarding all teachers, instructional or administrative aides, and other personnel assigned to the school. Through the application of administrative leadership, management and supervisory skills, he/she shall organize and provide a learning environment conducive to the maximum educational growth of each student. Education and Experience:

• Massachusetts licensure, or eligibility to obtain, as an elementary school principal.
• Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership in staff and curriculum development.
• Masters Degree with specialization in educational administration or curriculum and supervision preferred.
• Administrative and/or supervisory experience at elementary school level preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
