Elementary/Middle School Science Teacher

Maimonides School seeks a dynamic, creative teacher who has enthusiasm for working with upper elementary and middle school students, interest and experience in curriculum development, and a commitment to innovative pedagogy. This full-time position encompasses teaching both 3rd through 5th grade Science in our Elementary School and Middle School Science (grades 6-8).

Responsibilities:

• Teach a regular schedule of classes each week, including Elementary and Middle School Science curriculum. Collaborate as part of a team of very strong science teachers, dedicated to vertical integration of curriculum across grades and divisions.
• ·The focus of the science department is on interactive, experiential learning and depth of understanding, rather than breadth of coverage.
• The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm for developing young learner’s academic and critical thinking skills while nurturing their social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
• Maimonides is committed to using Boston as an educational resource and as such, there is an expectation that field trips throughout the city will be incorporated into the curriculum where appropriate, to complement and support students’ experiences in the classroom.
• May also serve as an advisor to a group of Middle School students.

Qualifications :

• Candidates should have an educational background in a range of sciences, and preferably some background or experience in STEM.
• Experience with the use of computers, interactive whiteboard technology and digital probe-ware is strongly desired.
• 3+ yrs of elementary or middle school science teaching experience.
• Masters degree is strongly preferred.
