Family ACCESS of Newton is a community-based nonprofit supporting families through early childhood education, counseling, and family support services. For over 100 years, the organization has served thousands of families, regardless of their economic status, from Newton and neighboring towns.

The word ACCESS is an acronym of the phrase "A Center for Comprehensive Education and Support Services", a phrase that clearly defines the organization's work in the community. Formerly known as Newton Community Service Center, our new name, specifically the word ACCESS, describes the impact of that work. It reminds us of the doors that open, and the rich journeys that result, when children and families have access to the very best education-based resources and programs.

Position Summary: The CFCE Facilitator plans, coordinates and facilitates activities assisting children and parents/caregivers in early education fundamentals. The CFCE Facilitator encourages family engagement in learning new skills in the areas of school readiness and child development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and Implement Curriculum for In-Person Learn & Play Groups supporting growth and learning for 0-6-year-olds. Introduce new creative programs to what we have developed successfully along with using existing curriculum from MA Raising Reader and Boston Children's Museum.
• Maintain registration and attendance Lists for all CFCE Learn & Play Groups.
• Maintain communication with Learn & Play Group Participants prior to and during playgroup sessions.
• Ensure Satisfaction Surveys are completed at the end of each playgroup session.
• Train in Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE) implementation and result reporting. Ensure families in all play groups are educated about the ASQ.
• Build relationships with Community Partners providing space for playgroups.
• Participate in Outreach Programs in 10 communities, including 6-8 Saturdays a year and/or late afternoon.
• Learn about, understand and provide support for families regarding community resources Ie: Heat Assistance, Food Pantries, Emergency Clothing/Furniture, Early Intervention, Special Education, etc.
• Attend trainings and regular CFCE staff meetings.
• Participate in CFCE quarterly council meetings.
• Use the Strengthening Families Model of Engagement.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have experience in Early Childhood Education.
• Understanding of the Parent/Child dyad and Child Development.
• Experience in developing curriculum and implementing Parent/Child Playgroups for Birth to 6 years.
• Experience in working with multilingual and/or multiethnic communities.
• BA level of education.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Docs.
• Bilingual/multilingual preferred.
• 20-25 hours a week (some weekends and late afternoon hours required). Some flexibility in scheduling.
• Willing to use your own car with proper insurance. Standard mileage reimbursement.
• Willing to carry and transport materials to program sites in all 10 communities outside of Family ACCESS.
