Role Type: Temp-to-Perm (opportunity to extend or convert permanent based on business needs)

Pay Rate: $23.00/hr
Location: 35 Kneeland Street, Boston, MA 02111
Schedule: Monday–Friday, rotating shifts 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 9:30 AM–6:00 PM
Closed Weekends & National Holidays
Onsite Role (Not patient-facing)

Position Overview

This Specialty Pharmacy Technician role supports a high-volume, fast-paced pharmacy that serves patients with Oncology, MS, Hepatitis, HIV, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Transplant, and GI conditions. You will support pharmacists, process prescriptions, handle refill requests, coordinate deliveries, and assist with benefits verification and copay programs. This position requires strong organization, accuracy, and communication skills.

Manager will consider candidates with a Pharmacy Technician Trainee License . If submitting as a trainee, include:

• Current number of trainee hours completed
• Total hours still needed for full licensure

Key Responsibilities

• Process, fill, and ring out prescriptions
• Complete refill calls and schedule patient deliveries
• Answer incoming calls and support pharmacy workflow
• Assist with prior authorizations, copay assistance, and benefits investigations
• Work within specialty pharmacy systems and technology
• Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
• Support a diverse patient population with empathy and professionalism
• Work collaboratively with pharmacy staff to ensure efficient operations
• Learn and adapt to new software and pharmacy processes
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety standards

Required Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License OR Pharmacy Technician Trainee License
• If trainee: must disclose hours completed + remaining hours needed
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work Monday–Friday between 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Strong communication and customer-service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to learn pharmacy systems, terminology, and medication processes

Preferred Qualifications

• National certification: PTCB or ExCPT
• Previous specialty pharmacy experience (Oncology, HIV, autoimmune conditions, etc.)
• Prior experience with prior authorizations or benefits investigation

Work Environment Details

• Monday–Friday only; no weekends
• Closed for national holidays
• Onsite as needed
• Non–patient-facing role
• Opportunity for overtime or overnight coverage if needed
• Temp-to-perm pathway based on performance and business needs

What Candidates Should Know Before Applying

• Must be comfortable on the phone, in systems, and learning new workflows
• Must already have MA Technician or Trainee license
