Senior Philanthropy Program Officer
Overview
The Senior Philanthropy Program Officer plays a strategic role in driving revenue growth by cultivating, managing, and expanding a portfolio of volunteer third-party Event Managers who organize Community Fundraising Events benefiting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These Event Managers serve as the primary leaders of their events, assuming responsibility for event planning, fundraising, participant engagement, and overall event execution. The Senior Philanthropy Program Officer provides fundraising strategies, relationship management, coaching, and stewardship to help Event Managers maximize fundraising success and deepen their long-term partnership with Dana-Farber.
The Senior Philanthropy Program Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and activating new Event Managers (i.e., new business acquisition) while managing and growing an assigned portfolio of existing Event Managers (i.e., account management) Working collaboratively across the Community Events & Partnerships team and reporting to the Senior Director of Community Fundraising Events, the Senior Philanthropy Program Officer serves as a front-line fundraiser, responsible for developing and managing relationships with Event Managers and driving revenue growth. He/she/they will collaborate closely with the Operations team to support effective third-party event execution, financial processing, reporting, and other operational functions needed for third-party events and Event Manager stewardship. This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI). Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Portfolio and Prospect Management: Cultivate, solicit, and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and external partners. Develop and implement strategies to increase donor participation and maximize fundraising results.
• Program and Event Leadership: Oversee and manage Community Events and Partnerships programs , including recruitment, stewardship, and event logistics. Take the lead on specific aspects of signature events, ensuring successful execution and alignment with organizational goals.
• Donor Stewardship and Engagement: Develop and execute comprehensive stewardship plans, including benefit mailings, newsletters, and donor recognition events. Serve as the primary contact for high-value teams and donors, providing personalized communication and support.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with teams such as Annual Giving, Jimmy Fund, Major Gifts, and Planned Giving to identify opportunities for deeper donor engagement and to align efforts across the Division of Philanthropy. Collaborate on the development of marketing strategies and communication plans for participants.
• Operational and Administrative Oversight: Provide high-level administrative support, including scheduling meetings, maintaining databases, and organizing event-related documents. Serve as a liaison to internal teams and assist with division-wide responsibilities, such as processing matching gifts and handling prospect assignments.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, track, and analyze data related to events, donor activities, and fundraising outcomes. Prepare detailed reports to provide insights and inform strategic decision-making.
• Leadership and Team Support: Contribute to a collaborative and productive team environment by mentoring junior staff, supporting team responsibilities, and leading special projects or initiatives that enhance donor experiences and organizational success.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proofread, present information clearly, and engage in public speaking. Strong ability to tailor communication for diverse audiences, including donors, volunteers, and organizational leadership.
• Fundraising Expertise: Proven ability to conduct one-on-one donor visits, solicitations, and relationship-building to support high-level fundraising goals. Demonstrated experience in developing strategies to increase donor participation and engagement.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
HS or equivalent. 3 years of experience required.

Special Working Conditions:
This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. Some local or domestic travel, and evening/weekend and overtime work may be required. Some lifting required for events.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
