Clinical Nurse Leader

As a Nursing Clinical Leader, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient care of our surgical patients, guiding them from the preoperative phase through recovery and discharge. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership, as you mentor and collaborate with your team to provide excellent patient care. Your support and dedication will help shape the experience of both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a dynamic team of PACU staff under the direction of the Nurse Manager, ensuring the highest standards of care for surgical patients.
Foster a collaborative, positive work environment by utilizing your strong communication and leadership skills with nursing personnel.
Work closely with anesthesia leaders, nursing supervisors, and OR leaders to ensure smooth daily operations and optimal patient flow.
Contribute to key performance indicators, including first start times, turnaround times, and patient throughput.
Assess staffing needs, assign roles, and manage shift coverage, including arranging for replacement staff and authorizing overtime when necessary.
Provide leadership during conflict resolution and guide staff through challenging situations, escalating to surgical services leadership as needed.
Serve as a clinical expert and resource for nursing practice, policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with physicians to address and resolve patient care issues.
Oversee staffing schedules, monitor ANSOS data, and communicate any staffing concerns to the PACU Manager/Director.
Act as a flow coordinator, working with OR, anesthesia, and bed facilitators to ensure patient movement is efficient and timely.
Participate in the orientation and onboarding of new surgical nursing staff, ensuring they receive a comprehensive understanding of our practices.
Actively assist in the hiring process for new OR nursing staff, contributing to a welcoming and effective onboarding experience.
Lead daily team huddles and review the weekly schedule to ensure operational goals are met.
Support ongoing monitoring of staff competencies and licensure requirements, ensuring continued compliance and skill development.
Collaborate with the Surgical Services Educator to assess educational needs and provide in-service training.
Participate in developing nursing department goals and objectives, and review policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement.
Engage in personal and professional development through in-house or external training programs to stay current in nursing practices.

Safety and Compliance:

Perform duties in accordance with safety protocols, regulatory laws, and established policies and procedures.
Due to the nature of the role, you may be exposed to blood and body fluids, and will be expected to follow infection control guidelines and wear protective gear as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, with BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in a recovery room setting, with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
