Responsibilities

  • Primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population.
  • Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation.
  • Direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required.
  • Maintain adherence to department and patient treatment schedules, documentation, and meetings.
  • Attend patient care, staffing, and related conferences.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consult with the rehabilitation team, including the community physician, to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
  • Adapt program and/or plan of care based on individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order supplies and equipment as necessary; clean, maintain, and report equipment issues.
  • Put patients and families first: ensure highest quality of service in a caring, compassionate atmosphere.
  • Screen, examine, evaluate patients and design treatment plans, applying therapeutic techniques in areas such as:
    • cognitive skills

    • mobility
    • perceptual abilities
    • sensory awareness
    • sitting and standing tolerance
    • balance
    • activities of daily living
    • joint protection
    • work simplification
    • orientation
    • physical agent modalities

    • Case Management skills in the home and community space
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices; train patients in use.
  • Select appropriate activities suited to individual physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Instruct patients in skills and techniques for functional activities; evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
  • Perform routine reexamination as needed to modify/progress treatment plan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
  • Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice.
  • Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from the patient's residence.

Posted Salary Range

USD $63.00 - USD $63.00 /Hr.
