About the Role
Friends of the Arava Institute (FAI) is looking for a creative, mission‑driven communicator to help strengthen our public presence and deepen supporter engagement across North America. If you are passionate about environmental cooperation in the Middle East — and you love shaping compelling narratives — this role offers both impact and variety.
At FAI, you’ll help lift up stories from one of the world’s most unique cross‑border environmental programs, working closely with colleagues in the U.S. and our partners at the Arava Institute in Israel.
We strongly prefer a hybrid schedule in Newton, MA , but will consider remote candidates who bring exceptional alignment and skill.
What You’ll Do
Communications & Storytelling
- Drive FAI’s communications strategy across digital, print, and social channels.
- Create engaging content for newsletters, appeals, social media, and fundraising campaigns.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with the Arava Institute’s media team to align messaging and share impact stories.
- Develop narratives that highlight environmental leadership, cross‑cultural collaboration, and applied research.
- Track digital performance and help inform communication strategy.
Development & Donor Engagement
- Write donor communications, stewardship pieces, and campaign materials.
- Support virtual and in‑person events through messaging, collateral, and coordination.
- Contribute to a cohesive, donor‑centered experience across every communication touchpoint.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–4 years of experience in communications, development, or related fields.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills — adaptable across channels and audiences.
- Experience creating digital content and managing social platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort working across time zones and cultures.
- U.S. work authorization required.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising communications.
- Basic design skills or CMS familiarity.
- Proficiency with MailChimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and/or InDesign, WordPress
- Hebrew or Arabic language ability (optional).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $58,000–$64,000
