Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own customer success through a multi-year, multi-stakeholder software roadmap spanning multiple teams.
• Lead architecture selection and design for robotic systems, including hardware, compute, storage, networking, orchestration, and software platform concerns.
• Lead teams delivering on-platform and off-platform software for autonomous systems.
• Represent software engineering interests with engineering, business, and sales leadership.
• Design and implement development processes, full-lifecycle testing, and hardware- and software-in-the-loop simulation fixtures.
• Own software systems end to end from requirements and roadmap management through design, implementation, operation, sustainment, and evolution.
• Partner with external teams on interfacing requirements between diverse systems and technologies.
• Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Travel to co-locate with end users or other teams up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a leadership position within a high-performing technology organization.
• Extensive professional experience as a Software Engineer with one or more domains or technologies of expertise.
• Systems or application programming skills covering algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, infrastructure, software design, and system design.
• Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
• Ability to work across the software stack and full lifecycle, from design and implementation through operation and sustainment.
• Ability to serve as technical owner for an entire software system, including stakeholder engagement, requirements, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
• Ability to mentor senior team members and build team cohesion and capacity.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Preferred experience delivering military mission systems in a senior role.
• Preferred experience writing backend services or embedded software in C++, Rust, and/or Go.
• Preferred experience building frontend applications with TypeScript and React.
• Preferred experience designing, implementing, and operating horizontally scaled cloud technologies.
• Preferred experience supporting embedded robotics software, modeling and simulation, high-assurance safety-critical software, and product delivery through manufacturing, acceptance, deployment, and sustainment.
• Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts.

• The posted US base salary range is $220,000–$292,000; equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
