CDL Shuttle Driver/Yard Jockey

Job Title: Shuttle Driver (CDL A or B) Location: Gloucester, MA

Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM), Monday – Friday (some weekends when needed)

Compensation: $30.02/hr (Union eligibility after 90 days)

Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and efficient Shuttle Driver to manage trailer movements between our two primary facilities. Located only a few hundred yards apart, this role is high-volume and fast-paced, averaging 20–25 loads per day. You will work under the direct guidance of our operations team, ensuring the right trailers are moved to the right locations in a safe and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Trailer Shuttling: Move trailers between facilities using a Kalmar/Ottawa T2 Yard Truck.

• Operational Execution: Follow specific loading and placement instructions provided by site supervisors.

• Safety Inspections: Conduct daily pre-and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working order.

• Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for fueling the yard truck at our neighboring fueling station.

• Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with the operations team to prioritize loads based on production needs.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid CDL Class A or Class B.

• Experience: Previous experience with yard trucks (spotting/shuttling) is a plus, but not required if proficient in trailer backing.

• Reliability: Must be able to maintain a 6:00 AM start time.

• Flexibility: Ability to work weekends as needed to support customer production (typically 2 weekends per month).

Schedule & Benefits

• Hours: 40–45 hours per week.

• Stability: This is a Union position (CBA-regulated pay and benefits) following a 90-day period.
