Project Manager – Demolition & Abatement
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead demolition and environmental abatement projects from initial planning through final completion. This role involves managing structural and interior demolition scopes as well as hazardous material remediation efforts.
The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership experience, the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously, and a solid understanding of construction documentation, cost control, and field coordination.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with the estimating team during preconstruction to support subcontractor and supplier buyouts
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure full understanding of scope
- Lead and participate in project meetings with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Manage submittals, ensuring accurate preparation, timely submission, and approval tracking
- Prepare and submit monthly billing applications and progress reports
- Coordinate with accounting to review and approve vendor invoices and project-related expenses
- Develop and maintain project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 , ensuring milestones and deadlines are met
- Oversee safety coordination on all job sites, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
- Monitor job costs, track budgets, and maintain accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
Project Execution & Field Coordination
- Work closely with field teams and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements
- Manage RFIs, change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders
- Conduct site visits to assess progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with project goals
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and field personnel
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations related to demolition and abatement
Systems & Tools
Experience with the following platforms is highly valued:
- Microsoft Project
- Primavera P6
- Procore
- Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate
- Bluebeam
- Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction project management, engineering, or a related field
- Strong background in demolition, environmental remediation, or similar project types
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project documentation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management , Civil Engineering , or a related discipline
- OSHA certification or familiarity with construction safety standards
