Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for OR and Day Surgery patients; coordinate with the surgical team to meet patient goals.
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders; perform pre-admission testing, blood draws, and EKGs for day surgery patients.
- Review pre-operative orders and test results; consult with surgeon and/or anesthesiologist to ensure appropriate tests are ordered and documented (consents, H&P, labs).
- Provide patient and family education; prepare patients for discharge and coordinate post-discharge support and resources.
- Document thoroughly and accurately; communicate patient status and responses to the care team; participate in handoffs and continuity of care.
- Promote patient safety and ethical care; identify risks, report concerns, and contribute to quality improvement activities as appropriate.

Requirements
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
- Current ACLS and PALS required; IV certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year acute care nursing experience
- Prior SDC, PAT, Endoscopy, or OR experience preferred
- Proficiency in peripheral IV insertion and comprehensive nursing assessment
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
