Sr. Production Manager
- Own the production execution across the BDC, assembly build campaigns, rapid prototyping shop, and manufacturing process development lines. Deliver on production goals (safety, quality, schedule, cost).
- Manage and develop production supervisors and their teams (supervisors, technicians, machinists, associates). Set clear expectations, coach performance, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive daily production planning and execution, ensure build plans are translated into actionable shift plans, resources are allocated, and production issues are resolved rapidly on the floor.
- Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained across all operations. Drive 5S, standard work, and housekeeping discipline. Own EHS compliance for the production floor.
- Partner with engineering, quality, and planning teams to align operational capacity with build requirements. Proactively flag constraints, resource conflicts, and risks to leadership.
- Support new product introductions and build campaign transitions, coordinate staffing, training, workspace setup, and material staging to enable smooth start-ups.
- Drive operational metrics (first pass yield, schedule adherence, throughput, safety incidents) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to raise the performance bar.
- Manage workforce planning, hiring, shift scheduling, cross-training, and skill development to maintain operational flexibility in a high-mix environment.
- Ensure readiness, coordinate with maintenance and facilities to maintain uptime for CNC machines, 3D printers, assembly stations, and test equipment.
- Foster open communication and collaboration across shifts and functional teams. Create an environment that is productive, safe, and engaged.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience hiring and developing strong talent and building a team- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations or production management, with at least 3 years managing supervisors and frontline teams.
- Experience managing operations in pilot, prototype, or NPI manufacturing environments with high product mix and frequent changeover.
- Proven track record of delivering production targets (safety, quality, schedule) while managing competing priorities in fast-paced settings.
- Hands-on comfort with manufacturing environments, assembly, machining, additive manufacturing, or similar.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles, standard work, and continuous improvement methodologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Six Sigma Green Belt, or Six Sigma Black Belt certification- 10+ years of production management experience with progressive leadership responsibilities in advanced hardware or electromechanical manufacturing.
- Experience in robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other complex hardware development environments.
- Experience managing both assembly operations and machine shop / prototyping shop operations.
- Strong analytical skills — ability to use production data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and engage effectively with engineering and leadership stakeholders.
- A proven track record of delivering results in high-growth, ambiguous environments while demonstrating ownership and bias for action (aligned with Amazon Leadership Principles). The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
