Job Summary:
They are seeking a full-time BC/BE Psychiatrist to join their team. The successful candidate will work alongside advanced practice providers and therapists across inpatient psychiatric hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. Clinicians average 10+ patients a day and provide treatment modalities including diagnostic evaluation and medication management. There is also potential for outpatient work at a later date.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Chief Medical Officer
- Review patients' medical history and collect additional information from family members and psychologists as needed
- Evaluate patients' emotional, behavioral, and mental state through discussion, observation, and analysis
- Identify mental disorders and determine the best treatments
- Develop therapy plans if applicable
- Prescribe medications
- Analyze medical tests and track patients' progress
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required
- Advise patients on coping with mental diseases and emotional breakdowns
- Support patients' loved ones and inform them about the patient's condition
- Be on-call as new patients are admitted and delegate to APPs on the team
- Research medical issues and new treatments to stay updated on mental healthcare
Qualifications for Success:
- Work experience as a Psychiatrist
- In-depth knowledge of various psychotherapeutic methods
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain medical terms to a non-medical audience
- Strong observation skills to accurately evaluate patients' demeanor and symptoms
- A great bedside manner and the ability to remain calm, empathetic, and patient with severely mentally ill patients
- Thoughtful and compassionate
- MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
- Certification from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS)
- Optional Fellowship in Addiction or Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
- Completion of a Psychiatry Residency program

- Minimal travel (50%) may be necessary to be present in different office locations for employee support
