The Porter/Matron plays a vital role within the operations team at C&W Services, performing daily and periodic cleaning and general maintenance tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility. Responsibilities include a range of custodial duties such as trash removal, restroom cleaning, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, hard floor and carpet maintenance, and pressure washing. Specific assignments are based on customer expectations, supervisor discretion, and the employee’s skill level and experience.Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily and scheduled cleaning tasks in assigned work areas.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area, including janitorial closets and storage spaces.
- Follow all C&W Services-approved cleaning procedures and protocols.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment in safe working condition; report any issues to management.
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies in assigned areas.
- Work safely at all times and immediately report any unsafe conditions or concerns to management.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task performed.
- Meet or exceed quality standards and expectations established by both the client and C&W Services.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members as directed.
- Follow security protocols and report any breaches or irregularities.
- Identify and communicate issues or improvement opportunities to management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- No prior experience required for basic custodial tasks.
- Must be able to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and perform tasks efficiently.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong work ethic.
- Must be physically able to perform manual tasks that require high levels of energy and endurance.
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE and adhere to all safety procedures.
Preferred:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in advanced custodial skills, including floor care and carpet maintenance (e.g., stripping, waxing, burnishing, shampooing, and extracting).
- Ability to speak and read English is preferred and may be required depending on the work site or customer requirements.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
The compensation for the position is: $21.00 - $24.70
