ABOUT THE TEAM


Anduril is fielding the next generation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) to tackle the extremely challenging industry demands of seabed exploration. Anduril has brought to the market a unique, ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth platform, and a completely refreshed maritime vehicle and flexible manufacturing architecture that scales from "large" to "extra-large" vehicle sizes. Today, Anduril is executing on multi-million-dollar contracts while simultaneously performing Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) AUV operations.

ABOUT THE JOB


We are looking for a Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Quonset, Rhode Island. In this role, you will be responsible for working at the cutting-edge of AUV technology leading a team of multi-disciplinary test engineers to rapidly develop and implement scalable automated test processes at both the device/sensor and full system level. Working closely with engineering staff and a team of skilled electro-mechanical technicians, this role is key to advancing our testing capabilities to ensure the highest levels of reliability are achieved as we continue to drive advancement and scale into our production operations. Please note: This role will be based in our Quincy, MA location until Q4 of 2025. Following this period, the successful candidate will be expected to work out of our new Quonset, RI facility. Based on eligibility, relocation assistance may be available.

WHAT YOU’LL DO



  • Lead, mentor, and directly manage a small team of manufacturing test engineers overseeing multiple product line and/or distinct value-streams within manufacturing test

  • Run weekly 1v1 / team meetings, set prioritization focus, coordinate team scheduling, and provide concise status reporting

  • Extremely high level of product ownership and demonstration of best practices in the form of test/reliability engineering

  • Build a broad range of strategic test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream - from critical component validation, major sub-system checkouts to top level AUV factory acceptance testing.

  • Develop, execute, and manage a test eco-system to de-risk hardware and ensure product meets target reliability levels and key performance perimeters (KPPs)

  • Set the standard in performing hands-on data-driven debug of hardware/software systems utilizing RCA and other structured problem solving methodologies.

  • Design and implement semi-automated testing equipment/protocols for subsystem characterization and reliability/environmental testing.

  • Collaborate with the design/systems team throughout product development cycles to perform risk assessments, maintain ownership of test deployment activities in production, oversee technician training, burn down bug fixes/improvements as needed.

  • Deliver escalations to management with potential blockers, well-informed risk mitigation plans, and help needed

  • Oversee the execution of manufacturing test projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required reliability standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably test design of electro-mechanical hardware in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in hardware testing and automated test systems (LabVIEW, Test Stand, etc.)

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, SHELL, or others

  • Experience with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.

  • Demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills with backing examples

  • Have experience developing full system test plans and know how to execute them on fast-paced product development timelines

  • Have experience with programming/testing a wide range of sensors, actuators, and electrical components

  • Can prototype and run your own tests, from experimental setup to hardware and software implementation

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience in maritime robotics (AUVs, UUVs, USVs, subsea sensors)

  • Experience working with electrical systems up to 400VDc

  • Subsea cable splicing or fabrication experience

  • Experience with pressure vessels and/or industrial pressure test equipment

  • Prior experience working with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), or Oracle (ERP) or equivalents

  • Experience with large scale high mix manufacturing at different stages of product maturity

US Salary Range

$142,000 - $213,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
