Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring an MA RN license, with night shift hours and a preference for candidates with 2+ years of ICU experience.
Details
- Medical ICU (MICU) setting in a hospital environment
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
- Floating to other adult ICUs required, as needed
- No block scheduling accommodations available; scheduling is based on unit needs
- Epic EMR; experience preferred
- Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks are available
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required; a conditional MA license will be accepted if actively working toward a permanent license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience highly preferred; candidates with less experience will still be considered
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Proficiency with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids
- Respiratory skills required: ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), and fresh tracheostomy care
- Cardiac skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, and epicardial pacing wire care
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, emergency medications, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
- Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of renal failure
- Experience with management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, liver failure, IV insulin protocols, and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- Two professional references required for consideration, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
- Candidates must have a clean nursing license (no prior disciplinary actions)
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have a 12-month separation before being eligible
- Local candidates are accepted; RNs must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- RTO requests up to 14 days may be submitted for review; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the contract; preferred RTO length is 3–5 days
- This is a union facility; no special scheduling accommodations can be made for any reason
- Candidates must pass a P/F EKG/telemetry test and a P/F medication exam during orientation; the passing score is 80% and only one attempt is allowed — failure will result in assignment cancellation
- Pre-start online modules (approximately 1–2 hours) must be completed prior to the start date, with additional modules completed during orientation
